Why is that CH3CN is more soulble than CH3OH in n-octane?

Acetonitrile is aprotic (contains no labile hydrogen atoms) and is less polar. Methanol is polar, protic, and engages in hydrogen bonding, like water. It is therefore much less soluble in n-octane or other hydrocarbons.
