Triumph TR7 running Badly from starter fluid?

I have a 1980 Triumph TR7, I got it to run about 90% after having not run for about 8 years. What I didnt realise was that the gas guage was broken. I was just running it in my driveway when my friend revved it and it died. I knew I had run out of gas but my friend refused to believe it. So he put a ton of starter fluid in the carbs and tried to run it and it ran for a few seconds. Then I finally filled it with 93 octane. Now it barely starts, it runs on 3 cylinders and it wont idle it just dies when you let go of the gas. I opened the carbs and the carbs and the needle stink like starter fluid and ether. What happened and how can I fix it. 2.0 liter 4 Cylinder
