What camera would you guys recommend?

Hello, my fiance realllly wants a camera for her birthday, but they are pricey. She doesn't want one of these click and picture take ones, she watns a good one which comes with shooting options. I think the term is Manual Digital Camera? I know nothing about them and would really like to suprise her and get one. But I'm on a buget of around 50-100 pounds.
