What phone could I get at Verizon that is similar to Blackberry without data plan?

Our small provider was bought out by Verizon and we had to go in and switch over. I have had a Blackberry for 4 years and I love it! Verizon says that if I want a Blackberry I will have to have the data plan which is 30 dollars every month. I will never use that. They gave me a phone called LG Octane. I hate it! I want my Blackberry back. Is Samsung Intensity similar to Blackberry? What can I get that will be similar but I wont need the data plan? Is there any way to get around the rule about the data plan? My old Blackberry curve just had the phone and the texting but it also had all that cool stuff for organizing and reminding.
